Balinese massage is a traditional form of body therapy originating from the island of Bali in Indonesia. Known for its deeply relaxing and revitalizing therapeutic techniques. This practice combines elements of traditional Indonesian medicine, acupressure, deep massage, and gentle stretching to promote balance and harmony in the body, mind, and spirittags. A distinctive feature of Balinese massage is its focus on combining gentle, vigorous movements, designed to relieve muscle tension and improve blood circulation.

Its main objective is to restore balance and harmony in the body, mind and spirit. I employ a variety of movements, including thumb presses, kneading, stretching, and joint manipulations, tailoring the treatment to each person’s individual needs.

In the Balinese massage I incorporate natural essential oils, and warm aromatic herbal pindas to increase the relaxing and therapeutic effects. Helping to stimulate the senses, relieve muscle tension and promote an overall sense of well-being.

Although Balinese pinda massage is generally safe and beneficial for most people, there are some contraindications to be aware of:

  • Pregnancy: During the first trimester of pregnancy, it is recommended to avoid any type of massage, including Balinese pinda massage, unless performed by an experienced therapist and under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Even in later stages of pregnancy, it is important to inform the therapist about the pregnancy so that they can safely adapt the massage.
  • Skin problems: If you have open wounds, burns, eczema, or other skin conditions in the area to be treated, it’s important to avoid Balinese massage with pindas in those areas, as heat and friction can worsen the condition.
  • Heat sensitivity: Some people are sensitive to heat and may feel uncomfortable using hot pindas during massage. If you have heat sensitivity or a history of burns, it’s important to let your therapist know so they can adjust the temperature of your pindas or modify your treatment as needed.
  • Acute or chronic illnesses: If you suffer from acute or chronic illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, or other serious medical conditions, it is crucial to consult with your doctor before undergoing any type of massage, including Balinese pinda massage. The therapist should also be informed of any relevant health conditions in order to safely tailor treatment.
  • Allergies: If you have known allergies to specific herbs or ingredients used in the pindas, it is important to inform the therapist prior to the massage to avoid allergic reactions.
